Nan Kim headshotNan Kim is a California lawyer specializing in venture capital financings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, U.S. securities law compliance matters and general corporate matters. Nan has more than twenty years of experience representing a diverse group of public and private companies. Nan has worked on numerous corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and venture capital financings, both as outside counsel for public and private companies and as in-house counsel leading and interfacing with various legal and non-legal specialists. She has extensive experience in U.S. securities law compliance matters and has provided legal support for in-house corporate development, financial and investor relations departments.

After law school, Nan clerked for a federal judge for one year and then in 1994, began her career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York where she worked on various M&A transactions and other general corporate and securities matters. She then moved to Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, CA where she worked on venture capital and private equity financings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, securities compliance matters and other general corporate matters. In 1998, Nan began her in-house career at General Magic, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA as associate general counsel for corporate and securities matters with responsibility for all securities compliance matters and corporate transactions, including the company’s private equity financings. She later joined Agilent Technologies, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA where she led strategic transactions globally, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and equity investments and advised on various corporate governance and securities law compliance matters. She joined the Thompson Legal Advisory Service’s team in July 2008 and focuses on providing superior legal services to public and private companies in the firms practice area.

Nan received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. She graduated from Cornell University in 1990 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.
